Humans are the chosen species of Diov. They were the last of the chosen species to come into being, appearing all over the world near the end of the Ancient Era. Despite their relatively late arrival, they have become the most populous and widespread chosen species on Mezia.

Early humans were nomadic hunter-gatherers who travelled across the globe, and some continue to uphold that lifestyle. Their travels led them to mingle with the other species, and often acted as a catalyst for members of those species to venture out of their homelands. Humans are highly social, and have maintained some of the most resiliant networks between major settlements throughout centuries of turmoil. Human civilization is often intermingled with other species and acts as a network for information and resources.

Most other species regard humans as either children of destiny or agents of chaos. Much of the stigma regarding humans is based on the Messenger's Prophecy, which foretold that the arrival of Diov's children would be followed by the departure of the Ancients and arrival of the Behemoths. Despite their portentous beginning, humans proved to be some of the fiercest opponents of the Behemoths and have made many allies.

Human physiology is similar in most aspects to many other chosen species. The human body consists of a head, neck, and torso, with two arms and two legs. Humans are bipedal and have flexible shoulder joints, grasping fingers and opposable thumbs. Most of a human's body is covered in hair that is so short and wispy as to be practically invisible. Humans are sexually dimorphic: males generally have greater body strength while females have more acute senses (hearing, sight, smell, taste, and touch). Most adult humans are between 150-193 cm (4'11"-6'5") tall, with males generally being taller than females. Humans reach sexual maturity at around 18 years old and have an average lifespan of 78 years.

Humans are omnivorous, capable of eating a wide variety of plant and animal material with their molars and a few short canine teeth, and can survive for up to eight weeks without food and four days without water. Humans are generally diurnal, and usually sleep between seven to nine hours each night. Childbirth is dangerous, with a high risk of complications and death. Often, both the mother and the father provide care for their children, who are helpless at birth.

Humans are also among the best long-distance runners, but slower over short distances. Humans' thinner body hair and more productive sweat glands help avoid heat exhaustion while running for long distances. A human can even outrun an orc, as long as they can keep up with the orc's faster pace in the first few miles.

Like all creatures, genes and the environment influence human biological variation in visible characteristics, physiology, disease susceptibility, mental abilities, body size, and life span. Though humans vary in many traits, any two humans are at least 99% genetically similar.
