Book

From AP Wiki

A book is an item used to study skills. You need at least 1 level in Education to be able to read a book. Reading a book provides experience points in both the skill you are reading about, and education. The rarity of the book impacts how many points are gained from reading the book.

Book Rarity Points to Topic Points to Education
Common 2 1
Uncommon 4 2
Rare 6 3
Legendary 8 4

When you read a book, roll a number of dice equal to the book's rarity (same as the points to education column in the table above). If you do not roll any successes, the book is finished and can't be used again. A finished book can still be used by someone outside the party, so it doesn't lose its value. You can discard, sell, or trade a finished book for another book of the same rarity.

Studying from a book takes 2 hours of downtime.

You can also teach the skill from a book. Teaching the skill provides another character with all the experience points for the skill, and you get the same amount of points for Education. Teaching from a book takes 3 hours of downtime.

For example, reading a rare book on Cooking to a friend will give them 6 points in Cooking and you 6 points in Education.
