A giant octopus is a huge aquatic animal. Giant octopods typically live in oceans and seas, but can also be found in some dungeons. They are solitary creatures, so are unlikely to be encountered more than one at a time.

A giant octopus is unlikely to attack unless provoked or hungry, which is thought to be the reason they occasionally attack small ships. In combat a giant octopus should be treated as a multi-creature; one head and eight tentacles. The head and each tentacle all have a turn, making the giant octopus very dangerous with the number of actions it can use in a round.

A giant octopus' head is its weak spot, if it takes a single loss the whole octopus is out of combat. However, the tentacles will always try to protect the head from harm. Each tentacle can take up to two losses before it is out of combat.

A giant octopus prefers to grab then squeeze its prey, occasionally bringing one in for its venemous bite. If the octopus feels threatened, it will use an ink cloud to hide, then try to escape or camoflage itself.
