For many hundreds of years, enormous creatures known as behemoths ruled the land, air, and seas. People lived in fear, entire cities could be leveled by a raging behemoth in hours. It was a time of desparation. But like all Ages, the Age of Behemoths came to an end nearly 400 years ago.

The end of the age was brought on by the dragons, led by the elder dragon Gornath. Gornath, blessed with divine intelligence, became more than any dragon before him. He formed an army of dragons and fought a vicious war against the behemoths. One by one, he brought them down, though there were many casualties. Gornath was always at the front of the battle, striking terrible blows to the monsterous behemoths and keeping the battle far from civilized lands.

After many behemoths had been slain, the rest banded together to destroy Gornath. Knowing he could not fight them all together, Gornath lured them to the far north, to the continent of Dracodryn. There all the dragons and all the behemoths faced off in one final battle. The dragons fought valiantly and took down several behemoths, but they suffered heavy casualties and were faced with defeat. Gornath had one last resort, he melted the ice they were fighting on and created an enormous lake to drown the behemoths. Gornath and the dragons forced the behemoths into the lake, but they were not sinking. Gornath plunged into the lake and brought the behemoths down to the bottom with him, from where he froze the lake solid.

Gornath gave his life to end the Age of Behemoths, releasing the world from their tyranny. And so, in honor of Gornath and every fallen dragon, this new Age shall be called the Age of Dragons.
