Lightning Spire

From AP Wiki

The Lightning Spire is a landmark in northern Linnoa. The spire gets its name from the lightning bolts that remain perpetually frozen in time around its peak. It is the site of one of the great behemoth battles early in the Behemoth War.

Climbing the spire is dangerous, because it is steep and overgrown with carnivorous plants such as TBD. Some still choose to do so, especially mages interested in researching the mana near the top.

History

During the Behemoth Era this site was known as the Hissing Spire, named for the behemoth TBD, an enormous Coatl living at the peak. TBD controlled the weather around the spire with electric mana, forming frequent dark storms around the spire spreading out far across the grasslands. TBD would create enormous storms to cover its movements, and swoop down to devour unsuspecting animals and people.

One day, villagers in a nearby town, TBD, start realizing that stars were disappearing from the night sky because the storm was expanding. The storm had never grown out that far, and they were worried that the serpent was coming for them. TBD, an astronomer in the town, noticed a star was getting brighter before the clouds expanded to block it out. She believed it was the beginnings of a supernova and could provide her with enough star mana to freeze the serpent in time and end this behemoth's reign. Because the clouds had expanded so much, she would need to climb the spire to see the supernova and use its mana. The storm and plants made it almost impossible to get up the spire, but she succeeded and fought the behemoth using star mana, resulting in a time rift that trapped both her and the serpant in and left lightning bolts blasting out of the top of the spire frozen in time.
