Nathaniel

From AP Wiki

My name is Nathaniel (idk, I figured by your earlier statement that we're all going by our real names), hailing from Sqoth. Sqoth is a medium-sized city along the coastline of Wizbendell, and sees a decent amount of seafaring traffic (though not enough to make a world-renowned port, lest that be in your plans). While my parents were not sailors by trade, being near the port and being raised on old stories of adventure, I ran away at a young age to find my own. I began as a cabin boy on a merchantman and slowly worked my way up to being a captain of my own smaller trading vessel. This long life of sailing around Wizbendell and the greater world had given my character experience with many cultures and legends, as well as a decent fortune saved with my family for safe keeping. Most of that fortune was lost in the attack, and what's left is being spent on keeping the ship in port and drowning out my sorrows.

Ship

My ship, the "Adventure", is a relatively smaller vessel, that makes up for lesser cargo space with its improved agility and speed. While not the most modern vessel, it has proven capable enough to manage all the seas of the world and strong enough to handle all but the most frigid winds of the north. On the bow used to be a figurehead of a dragon, originally added for aesthetic value and old traditions. After the dragon attack, I went out in drunken rage and sawed the head off the dragon motif, leaving a rough, jagged edge at the end of its scaly neck. (I imagine the ship to be roughly the size and style of a caravel , I'll attach pictures to give the relative scale and layout)

Skills

I'm not sure how we will generate character traits and skill levels, so this will be more of my expectation for general capabilities and not specific skill levels. My character, from being raised on story books and from learning to read nautical insturments and charts, understands the basics of the written language in Wizbendell. My character also understands some of the Xian, Dracodyrn, and other nearby languages, though none of them fluently. My character also has some historical knowledge, gleamed from old stories (so obviously not a very "accurate" understanding of history...). I also have a decent grasp of trading. Since I have been in a drunken stupor for a while, these general skills are not at a terribly high level. Combat skills include some experience in unarmed, one handed weapons, and small weapons. No magic skills. These are renditions of caravels - it would have a crew of about a dozen, and can support berths for a further dozen as well as a decent (but not huge) cargo capacity. I guess the Adventure would have 3 decks - the lowest deck for berths and cargo, the main deck, and the castle deck. I would have private quarters at the rear of the main deck, underneath the castle deck (as in the last image)
