An ethnic group or ethnicity is a grouping of people who identify with each other on the basis of shared attributes that distinguish them from other groups. Those attributes can include common sets of traditions, ancestry, language, history, society, culture, nation, religion, or social treatment within their residing area.
Every character has an ethnicity. Consider where they grew up, who they were around, how they were raised. A character can be a dwarf, but if they were born and raised in Zenistar, the Eventide city they'll have more in common with humans and elves from their hometown than with other dwarves from the Karathian Mountains.
Ethnicity plays a part in who the character relates with and who their connections are.
