Far Saada is a town in southeastern Alishtahan. The town is located an altitude of 1,170 meters in the Tamaran Mountains near a large oasis. The presence of the oasis allows citrus fruits, apricots, dates, almonds, cereals, corn, and figs to grow despite the difficult climate.
Far Saada is an important market place producing and selling jewelry, metalwork, carpets and farsaadi knives. The Winter Solstice Festival draws many visitors to Far Saada.
Climate
Far Saada has a hot desert climate, with very hot summers (which are moderated by its elevation) and mild winters. Surrounded by the barren Defersi Desert, summer temperatures can reach over 47°C (117°F). There is very little rain throughout the year, although occasional rain does fall in late summer.
Population
Far Saada has a population of ~7,800 people. The ethnic population is mainly Farsaadi, with some Defersi nomads and a small percentage of foreigners who have settled here.
