Fire mana | |
---|---|
Fire mana (aka heat or burning mana) is mana converted into a burning flame. Fire is the element of passion, both beautiful and terrifying.
Fire mana is one of the more common forms found in nature. Many creatures use fire mana for defense and offense, some hunting and partially cooking their prey with heated breath, others igniting their bodies to burn anything that would bite.
Fire spells are some of the most common spells, especially in combat. Fire mages have access to a trove of destructive spells, but reckless use of them is as likely to hurt their allies as their enemies. Powerful fire mages can melt metal and burn down an entire forest.
Fire deals burning damage and can ignite the environment to create a prolonged effect.
Fire is the domain of the goddess Vix.
Springs
Fire mana originates in fire springs, which takes the form of volcanoes. Not all volcanoes are fire springs, but all fire springs are incredibly hot, melting the ground into lava and igniting the air to unbearable temperatures. Fire springs are class 2, dangerous but survivable by experts.
Spells
A fire mage can control and eventually produce fire at will. Until the mage learns to produce their own fire, they must have a source of fire available to cast their spells with.
Fire mages are susceptible to cold, like anyone else. Using fire magic to warm yourself up is about as effective as rubbing your hands together. Using magic to ignite a firepit will keep you warm as long as the wood burns, but anytime you must sustain the fire through magic you are spending more energy than you're getting back.
Cantrips
A fire mage's first spell is controlling fire for offensive, defensive, and practical purposes.
