In an era long past, left to the whispers of myth and legend, the Ancient Gods lived on Mezia and blessed the common folk with lives of peace and prosperity. When the Ancients left, a power void formed and was filled by the Behemoths. Gigantic monstrosities and vile tyrants crushed the people of Mezia, leaving only a few pockets of civilized life left desperately hiding from their influence. Recently, a massive meteor shower again shifted the balance of power. Mana shards of all sizes fell to Mezia, and those who found them gained abilities reminiscent of the Ancients. A few Behemoths have already been slain, the Champion Era has begun...
Mezia is a planet on the brink of tremendous change. For thousands of years the Behemoths have been the apex predators of the land, each one controlling a vast territory. What was once a vibrant civilization has been reduced to ruins, and the remaining people survive in scattered and poorly equipped towns. Most people live in fear of running into a Behemoth, and few dare to hope that anything will change. But a great change is coming, the Manastone shower delivered dozens of massive mana shards and many more smaller ones. Finding one of these shards may allow one to use its elemental power, finally providing a weapon that can be turned against the Behemoths.
Mana shards work by imbuing an elemental quality onto pure mana, which exists in abundance on Mezia. People are quite familiar with pure mana and able to cast a small variety of spells with it, but its uses are limited. The addition of elements opens up tremendous possibilities for new and powerful spells. Some people have already felled their local Behemoth using this newfound power, and been dubbed Champions by the people they freed. Cities slowly start to grow, governments take root, and trade routes open up.
This is the world in which you, the player, find yourself in. Mezia RPG is a game about magic, Behemoths, combat and survival, but also about relationships, reputation, trade, and worldbuilding. You may choose to play as an aspiring Champion whose goal is to defeat the local Behemoth and claim your place in history. You may also decide you want nothing to do with Behemoths, instead opting to play as a merchant traveling between burgeoning towns or a thief profiting off a wave of new wealth. The world is yours to explore, shape, and enjoy.
